madeupofstars: So, an aside about Jeyne. And Talisa. → madeupofstars.tumblr.com

So, I feel like I need to say a little more about this. First, establishing some things:

  • I realise that Jeyne Westerling had very little personality in the books.
  • I think that Talisa actually could be a very interesting character, if GoT was not based off of said books.

Things that bother me:

Wait, has it not been revealed that Talisa is lying and is actually Jeyne? Because that’s where I thought they were going with this. Is it not????? Bear in mind I haven’t seen tonight’s episode yet. Just- if Talisa isn’t going to turn out to actually be Jeyne, I’m not sure wtf they’re doing in this show anymore.

I have seen many things on the internet that say “Talisa Maegyr is a character created to replace Jeyne Westerling,” and in interviews they’re all SHE’S THIS AMAZING HEALER BLAH BLAH BLAH no like, secret mentioned or anything. If they do somehow like, pull away the curtain and Talisa is Jeyne, idk if it makes me wtf more or less, because why the fuck would a Westerling be out on her own masquarading as a chick from Volantis. :< aghhhhhh whyyyy did they make this choiiiiiice.

I was under the imppression she used a false name. Maybe it’s to hide the fact she’s a Westerling.

I very much hope that’s the case, although that doesn’t really explain how/why Jeyne would be tromping around a battlefield for weeks cutting off feet. I’m just very confused :(

Well, in ASOS didn’t she and Robb meet when he was hurt and she healed him? That’s why he married her. (Am I giving away spoilers? D:)

(Not to me? D: I’m assuming people who don’t know won’t be reading this…? D:) but yeah - she bandaged his cuts or w/e, but she’s a lord’s daughter, and is very much a part of her family. It just doesn’t make sense to me. I do hope she’s Jeyne, although I don’t really know what to think about her lying about a bunch of stuff. It doesn’t bug me that they shifted Ros and squashed her together with Ayaya, or that Asha is Yara and all that stuff. It bugs me that it makes Robb’s throwing away his commitment a lot more pre-meditated, and his men / mother have all put in their $0.02 and they don’t like her, so he’s disregarding all of their advice, and it’s just a giant mess. In short, I hope she’s Jeyne, but I have no idea if/how they would make her be remotely similar to the Jeyne in the books. I don’t dislike Talisa, I just am confused by her. I probably would like her if the series was not book-based and was an original work.
